- This app is designed to support healthy eating using Psychological theory to enhance a self-control mind-set. The app has 5 main functions:
1) Deliver the mind-set task – This is a set of 4 progressive input fields for users to detail their personal reasons why they wish to eat more healthily.
2) Provide timely cue reminders – Users are asked to input their typical eating times each morning for that day. The app then delivers the personalised reminder cues 15 minutes before each meal time to prompt a self-control mind-set and healthier eating choices.
3) Record food intake – Users have the option to type in what they eat at each meal/snack occasion, to keep a record of food consumption (Food Log).
4) Just in Time (JIT) function – Users can access a ‘Cravebuster’ function if they experience a craving outside of normal meal times. This allows them to view their personalised reasons for maintaining healthy eating.
5) Provide a database of user information – Data from the app will be stored on a university server, with information pertaining to frequency and timing of use of each of the above functions. This will be uploaded automatically when the user is connected to the internet.
